  • Dr Elizabeth Magassy

    Dr Elizabeth Magassy

    Qualifications:

    MBBS (USyd, 1978); Dip. RACOG (1981).

    Areas of Interest:

    Dr Magassy's areas of interest include:

    • Women's Health (including Implanon and Mirena insertion)
    • Antenatal Shared Care (with The Wollongong Hospital)
    • Preventive Care

    Dr Magassy has been a full time General Practitioner in Wollongong since 1982, after graduating from the University of Sydney and completing her Diploma in Obstetrics and Gynaecology. She is a Clinical Associate Professor with the Graduate School of Medicine at the University of Wollongong and is a current member of the University of Wollongong Council. She is involved in teaching medical students from the University of Wollongong. She was Chairperson of the Illawarra Division of General Practice from 2001 to 2004.  She is appeared as 'Dr Liz' on Illawarra ABC radio for 16 years.

    In her spare time she loves reading, swimming, doing crosswords and spending time with her two Golden Retrievers.

    Dr Magassy is available on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.


  • Dr Robert Watson

    Dr Watson graduated with honours from the University of NSW in 1982 and has been working in general practice since 1986.  He is involved in teaching medical students from the University of Wollongong. He is a Clinical Senior Lecturer with the University of Wollongong and GP Registrar Supervisor with Coast City Country General Practice Training. He is involved in teaching medical students from the University of Wollongong

    Dr Watson is a keen cyclist (some would say mad) with a history of many injuries - not all (but most) self-inflicted.

  • Dr Rene Dostal

    Dr Rene Dostal

    Dr Dostal graduated from the University of Sydney in 1992 and became a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners in 1997. He has worked in the Illawarra since 1993 and has been a full time GP since 1997. Dr Dostal was a partner at the Kiama Downs Surgery for seven years, before commencing at the Illawarra Family Medical Centre as one of its original Associate General Practitioners in August 2005. Dr Dostal was also active on the Board of the Illawarra Division of General Practice, serving as a General Board Member in 2001, Deputy Chairman from 2002 to 2004, and Chairman from 2005 to 2006. He is a Clinical Senior Lecturer with the University of Wollongong and is involved in teaching medical students from the University of Wollongong.

  • Dr Gary Butler

    Dr Butler graduated from the University of Sheffield (UK) in 1989. He completed his Diploma of Obstetrics and Gynaecology in 1992 and became a Member of the Royal College of General Practitioners in 1993. He has worked in the Illawarra since 2006 and became a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners in the same year. He has completed a Masters of Medical Education and is both a Clinical Associate Professor with the University of Wollongong and GP Registrar Supervisor with Coast City County General Practice Training. He is involved in teaching medical students from the University of Wollongong. Dr Butler is one of three National Assessment Advisors for the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners and has responsibility for managing one component of the licensing exams for doctors to become qualified General Practitioners.

    Dr Butler is available on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and alternate Mondays and Fridays.

    Dr Allan graduated from the University of Sydney in 1996 and became a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners in 1999. His postgraduate education and experience was at Westmead and Wollongong Hospitals.  He is a member of the Australian Medical Association. He is a Clinical Senior Lecturer with the University of Wollongong and GP Registrar Supervisor with Coast City Country General Practice Training. He is involved in teaching medical students from the University of Wollongong. He has a broad range of interest in all areas of family medicine. He has a special interest in dermatology and has successfully completed a Certificate in Skin Cancer Medicine with the Skin Cancer College of Australasia. 

    Dr Allan is available on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.


  • Dr Ian McCorkindale

    Dr Ian McCorkindale

    Qualifications:

    Dr McCorkindale has been a General Practitioner for 30 years, graduating from the University of NSW in 1979 and then going on to complete a Diploma of Anaesthetics in 1982, Diploma of Child Health in 1983 and Master of Geriatric Medicine in 2011. He worked in Wagga Wagga for 20 years and has worked in the Illawarra for the past 10 years. He is a Clinical Senior Lecturer with the University of Wollongong and is involved in teaching medical students from the University of Wollongong.

  • Dr Ros Maskiell

    Dr Rosalind Maskiell

    Qualifications:

    MBBS (UNSW, 1979); SH&FPA Certificate in Sexual and Reproductive Health (FPNSW, 1984).

    Areas of Interest:

    Dr Maskiell's areas of interest include:

    • Women’s Health (including Implanon and Mirena insertion)
    • Antenatal Shared Care (with The Wollongong Hospital)
    • Preventive Care

    Dr Maskiell completed her medical degree at the University of NSW. Her immediate training was at Prince of Wales, Prince Henry (now closed), Bankstown and Sutherland Hospitals. She worked in the same general practice in the Sutherland Shire for more than 20 years before relocating to the Illawarra Family Medical Centre in 2009. Dr Maskiell has participated in a humanitarian medical mission to Uganda, and non-medical humanitarian aid to Bali and Kosovo. She is a Clinical Senior Lecturer with the University of Wollongong and is involved in teaching medical students from the University of Wollongong. 

    Dr Maskiell has three adult children and enjoys an active lifestyle.  She particularly enjoys her bushwalking group and participating in ocean swims and somewhat reluctantly joins her husband in cross-country running.

    Dr Maskiell is available on Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays.


  • Dr Michele McGrath

    Dr Michele McGrath

    MBBCh (WITS, 1997); FRACGP (2013); Diploma of Child Health (CMSA, 1999); AMC (2007).

    Dr McGrath obtained her medical degree from the University of Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, South Africa in 1997, thereafter completing her Diploma of Child Health with the College of Medicine of South Africa (Paediatrics) in 1999. She worked in General Practice and assisted in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in South Africa and immigrated to Australia in 2003.  She started in General Practice in Wollongong in 2005, completed her Australian Medical Certificate in 2007, and became a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners in 2013. Dr McGrath is a member of the Australian Medical Association. She is a Clinical Senior Lecturer with the University of Wollongong and is involved in teaching medical students from the University of Wollongong. 

    Dr McGrath is available on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.


  • Dr Jacqui Noble

    Dr Jacqui Noble

    Qualifications:

    Dr Noble completed a Bachelor of Science at the University of NSW in 1998, followed by her Medical degree at the University of Sydney in 2003.  After completing her junior years at Gosford Hospital, she moved to Wollongong in 2006 to complete her General Practice Training, becoming a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners in 2008. She is involved in teaching medical students from the University of Wollongong.

    She is kept busy in her spare time looking after her three young children.

    Dr Noble is available on Mondays, Wednesdays and alternate Fridays. 


  • Dr Lauren Piatek

    Having grown up in the Illawarra, Dr Piatek graduated from the University of Wollongong as part of their inaugural cohort in 2010.  Prior to this she completed a Bachelor of Exercise Science and Rehabilitation with Honours.  She is currently completing her Diploma in Child Health through The Children’s Hospital at Westmead. She completed her postgraduate training at Wollongong Hospital with rotations in emergency medicine, geriatrics, general medicine, paediatrics and general surgery before beginning general practice training in 2013. As a resident medical officer she was involved in teaching medical students for their hospital rotations.

    In her spare time, Dr Piatek enjoys cooking, playing soccer, swimming, basketball, touch and the odd triathlon.

    Dr Piatek is available on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

    Dr Quigley graduated from the University of NSW in 2006.  She completed postgraduate training in the Illawarra, with a special interest in critical care, before commencing GP training in 2011. In 2012 she was awarded the Tony Buhagiar medal for the highest marks in NSW for the National RACGP Fellowship exams. She became a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners in 2014.  Dr Quigley is a Medical Educator for GP Registrars with Coast City Country General Practice Training. She is a Clinical Lecturer with the University of Wollongong and is involved in teaching medical students from the University of Wollongong. 

    Dr Quigley is available on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. 


  • Dr Anne Simpson

    Anne Simpson

    Qualifications:

    MBBS (Dund., 1999); MRCGP (2003); FRACGP (2004); DCH; DFFP; DRCOG.

    Dr Simpson's areas of interest include:

    Dr Simpson trained as a GP in city and rural Scotland, around Dundee and Perth. In 2003, she moved to Wollongong with her Australian husband, working initially at Gwynneville, then moving to IFMC when it opened in 2005. She works part-time while raising three daughters. Dr Simpson has experience in all areas of general practice, but particularly enjoys getting to know people and families over repeated visits, which she believe enables the provision of comprehensive holistic care through all aspects of the health journey - whether that be a persistent cough, travel advice, childhood immunisations, cancer support  etc. She has a particular interest in diet and lifestyle as the keys to good physical and mental health and is always happy to discuss these in the context of the patient’s personal goals and constraints. She is an Clinical Senior Lecturer at the University of Wollongong and is involved in teaching medical students from the University of Wollongong.

    Dr Simpson’s life outside of work is spent navigating the challenging, exhausting and amazing journey of parenthood whilst running, cooking, sewing and taking lots of beautiful photographs of it all.

  • Dr Dion Casey

    Dr Casey graduated from Charles Sturt University with a Bachelor of Applied Science (Medical Imaging) with the University Medal in 2001. He worked for a number of years in radiography in Australia, England and Ireland before completing his MBBS at Wollongong University in 2012 with distinction.  He completed his postgraduate hospital training in Perth with rotations in emergency medicine, psychiatry, paediatrics, palliative care, cardiology and geriatrics and was nominated twice for Intern of the Year during his first hospital year. He started working in general practice in 2015 at Culburra Beach General Practice, and now is looking forward to settling in Wollongong.

    In his spare time Dr Casey enjoys playing saxophone, guitar, piano, and keeps active by playing tennis, swimming and surfing.

  • Dr Nicole Hutt

    Dr Hutt has been studying and working in the Wollongong region since 2003. She completed a Medical Science degree and a Masters in Public Health before studying Medicine. During her university years she worked as an assistant nurse, a sleep technician, and a newborn hearing screener. Dr Hutt also published a paper in the Journal of Paediatrics and Child Health. Since graduating, Dr Hutt has completed rotations in paediatrics, surgery, and general medicine. She has done extended terms in mental health, rehabilitation and emergency medicine.

    In her spare time, Nicole likes to crochet, run and read. She spends most of her spare time chasing after her three children.

    Dr Hutt is available Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.
