A Healthy Kids Check is available to all children at or around the time of their 4-year-old immunisation and helps to ensure that children are healthy, fit and ready to learn when they start school. The aim of the Healthy Kids Check is promote early detection of lifestyle risk factors, delayed development and illness. It also provides the opportunity to discuss with your doctor or practice nurse guidance on healthy lifestyles and early intervention strategies for your child. A Healthy Kids Check will include an assessment of your child’s height and weight, an assessment of their eyesight, hearing and oral health and discussion about their toilet habits and known or suspected allergies.

This check is for all patients aged 75 or older and provides a structured way of identifying health issues and conditions that are potentially preventable or that may benefit from interventions in order to improve health and quality of life. It provides an opportunity to discuss with your doctor or practice nurse any issues that are affecting your overall health and wellbeing.
This check is for permanent residents of an aged care facility and provides a structured way of identifying health issues and conditions that are potentially preventable or that may benefit from interventions in order to improve health and quality of life. This check involves a comprehensive assessment of the resident's physical function (including activities of daily living and falls, psychological function (including cognition and mood), pain management, foot care, skin integrity, continence, hearing, vision and oral health.
The CVC Program is a targeted program for Gold Card holders living in the community who have one or more chronic conditions (congestive heart failure, coronary artery disease, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, diabetes, pneumonia) that increase their risk of unplanned hospitalisations. Your GP and practice nurse will work closely with you on a regular basis to help you understand your health needs, assist you in better managing your conditions and to coordinate the various aspects of your care. Your care plan will be regularly reviewed and you will be given a patient friendly version of the plan to take home and keep handy as a reminder of your medications, appointments and health goals.

GP Mental Health Care Plans aim to improve outcomes for people with a clinically-diagnosed mental health problem through structured, evidence-based, management of their treatment needs and referral to selected mental health services. Under this initiative, Medicare rebates are available to patients for selected mental health services provided by general practitioners (GPs), psychiatrists, psychologists (clinical and registered) and eligible social workers and occupational therapists.

They also provide an opportunity to discuss with your doctor or practice nurse guidance on healthy lifestyles and early intervention strategies. A preventive health check will include a thorough history, examination and investigations and a discussion of advice and recommended interventions, including strategies to achieve lifestyle and behaviour changes. This check is for all patients who are aged 45 to 49 years and are at risk of developing a chronic disease such as asthma, cancer, cardiovascular illness, diabetes, a mental health condition, arthritis or a musculoskeletal condition.
This check is for all patients who are aged 40 to 49 years (or 15 to 54 years (inclusive) for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people) who are at high risk of developing type 2 diabetes, as identified by the Australian Type 2 Diabetes Risk Assessment Tool (AUSDRISK).
This check is for patients who have a significant intellectual disability and who would benefit from assistance with daily living activities. The health check provides a structured clinical framework for medical practitioners to comprehensively assess the physical, psychological and social function of patients with an intellectual disability and to identify any medical intervention and preventive health care required.
This check is for refugees and other humanitarian entrants who arrive in Australia with complex and unusual medical conditions resulting from their area of origin or previous living conditions. This assessment is separate from, and in addition to, a medical assessment specifically for the grant of a Refugee or Humanitarian visa.
This check is to help ensure that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people of all ages receive health care matched to their needs, by encouraging early detection, diagnosis and intervention for common and treatable conditions that cause morbidity and early mortality.

The asthma cycle of care aims to promote better management of people with moderate to severe asthma. The cycle of care includes a comprehensive assessment of asthma severity and control, medication and device use, and discussion of self-management strategies, including a written asthma action plan.
The diabetes cycle of care aims to promote earlier detection and better management of people with established diabetes. The cycle of care includes a comprehensive assessment of diabetes severity and control, medication use, complications of diabetes and discussion of self-management strategies.
GP Management Plans (+/- Team Care Arrangements) enable GPs to plan and coordinate the health care of patients with chronic or terminal medical conditions (e.g. asthma, cancer, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, musculoskeletal conditions and stroke), including patients with these conditions who require structured, multidisciplinary, team-based care from a GP and at least two other health or care providers.

The Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) recommends a formal skin check every 12 months.
All doctors can perform skin checks. Many IFMC doctors have completed postgraduate study in skin cancer detection.

Worker's Compensation consultations are billed at WorkCover approved rates. These consultations will be billed directly to your insurance company if they have accepted liability and you can provide all billing details (including approval number and name of insurance company) at the time of consultation. If you do not have a claim number, you will be charged at AMA rates and may be able to claim the cost of the consultation from your employer.
